ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Senator Aitzaz Ahsan on Wednesday said the Supreme Court has shown flexibility while dealing with the incumbent government in the NRO implementation case, DawnNews reported.

Speaking to media representatives outside the apex court building in Islamabad, Ahsan said the court has acknowledged reservations of the government on the issue of writing a letter to Swiss authorities to reopen graft cases against President asif Ali Zardari. “Which is good thing,” he added.

Ahsan said the court has shown flexibility in its stance taken at the time of disqualifying Yousuf Raza Gilani as a prime minister and it has accepted today that the president enjoys immunity against court proceedings.

The counsel to the former PM Gilani admitted that Farooq H. Naek has achieved something which Ahsan himself could not achieve. “The arguments I presented before the court, Naek has made the court to accept them,” he said.

Ahsan lamented the fact that the apex court has shown generosity in giving time to Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf whereas in case of Gilani it had provided time of a mere day.

Condemning Taliban’s attack on Pakistani children’s activist Malala Yousafzai, Ahsan declared the attack on a 14-year girl as an attack on all women of the country.
