KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust (KPT) defeated Afghan FC 2-0 for only their second victory of the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) season on Sunday.

KPT goalkeeper Sajid Hussain was the hero for his side as he pulled off some excellent saves between the posts at the KPT Stadium to help his side to seven points from seven games.

Junaid Qadir opened the scoring for the KPT in the 36th minute before his strike partner Zahid Ahmed doubled their lead six minutes later.

Afghan FC came out in the second-half with renewed vigour but Sajid was too much of a barrier for them to overcome as they slumped to their second defeat of the season and have six points from four games.

Monday’s fixtures:

HBL v Baloch FC (People’s Football Stadium, Karachi); Navy v Muslim FC (KPT Football Stadium, Karachi); Wohaib FC v ZTBL (Railway Football Stadium, Lahore).—Sports Reporter

The concern is that if the government is thinking of cutting costs through the merger, we might even lose the functionality levels we currently have.
