BATKHELA, Sept 22: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that rulers have been clinging to alliance with America in violation of the joint resolutions of parliament and all party conference, while the US and its allies have so far killed over 40,000 innocent people of Pakistan under the garb of so-called war against terrorism.

He said this while addressing ‘Islam Zindabad Conference’ organised by the JUI-F at Batkhela, headquarters of Malakand protected area on Saturday. Former chief minister Akram Khan Durrani, MPA Kifayatullah, ex-senator Gul Naseeb Khan, former provincial minister Hafiz Akhtar Ali, JUI-F district chief Khalid Jan and general secretary Maulana Javed also spoke on the occasion.

The JUI-F chief said that America and Jews had killed over 40,000 innocent people in different areas of Pakistan in the garb of war against terrorism and now they were plotting to defame Islam and the holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) by making blasphemous films and posting sacrilegious cartoons and sketches on websites.

He said that people of Malakand wanted imposition of Sharia in the country, but all this needed a proper homework and strategy. He said that the rulers had attempted to change Islamic laws on the intervention of America, but the JUI-F stood against the amendments and foiled the attempt.

He said that his party would always strive for JUI to strive for Sharia through ballot, says Fazl enforcement of Sharia in the country through peaceful struggle and power of ballot.

Mr Fazl said that his party did not believe in ransacking public and private properties. He said that JUI-F workers believed in peaceful protests and those who played havoc with private properties were not among them rather they were ‘paid people’ to defame a peaceful movement. He said that Americans were the biggest terrorists who had tortured Muslim prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, torched holy Quran, and threw Iraqi prisoners to dogs. He said that if America was plotting against Islam then Muslims were also justified to retaliate.

The JUI-F chief regretted that a day’s expenses of army were more than the annual education budget of Pakistan. He said that seminaries were the guardian of Islamic ideology and faith. He called upon the rulers to stop action against religious seminaries on the dictation of the US.

Mufti Kifataullah alleged that Jamaat-i-Islami leadership had received money for formation of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, IJI and even for boycott of last general election. He claimed that the JI was receiving its annual budget from army. However, Mr Durrani recounted achievements of the former MMA government. He said that the present government was yet to complete development projects initiated by his government.
