KARAK, Sept 14: Enraged villagers encircled Takht-i-Nusrati police station on Thursday evening to protest against power suspension in Zarki Nusrati village for last three days. The protesters led by JUI-F local leader Qari Abdur Razaq and Maulana Sabir Hayat marched from Zarki Nusrati village to Takht-i-Nusrati sub-division offices of Peshawar Electric Supply Company, but the offices were locked. They then marched to the local police station and staged a sit-in there. They said that power suspension had created acute shortage of drinking water in their locality, but the Pesco officials were not taking action on their complaints. Local police held talks with the protesters and assured them that they would take up the issue with senior Pesco officials. The protestors later dispersed peacefully.  —Correspondent
