NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Sept 13: Three brothers and two of their relatives who lost their lives in the factory fire in Baldia were laid to rest in Qasim Vighio village near Lakha Road on Thursday.

The brothers, 38-year-old Nizamuddin, 28-year-old Mahrab Ali, and 25-year-old Mohammad Ishaq, were the sons of the late Sarho Khan Vighio. They had worked at the factory for the past five years with their relatives, Allah Rakhio, son of Nagar Khan Vighio, and, Illahi Bux, son of Yar Ali Vighio.

Another relative, Allah Warayo Vighio, also worked at the factory but he was fortunate enough to be able to save his life.

The bodies reached the village late on Wednesday night. All the men were married. Their agricultural lands had been damaged by water-logging and salinity so they had left the village to get a job at the factory.

While talking to journalists at his village, the only survivor from the family, Allah Warayo, said that he had fallen unconscious from the smoke but when woke up when water fell on his face. From a small window he was able to see a crowd had gathered outside and a crane was trying to break the wall.

When the wall broke he jumped out and hurt his leg.

Allah Warryo recalled that the employees had asked the guard to give the keys to the main gate but he didn’t because he feared that the material inside the factory might be stolen.—BoC
