CIVILIANS residing within the jurisdiction of cantonment boards have always been ignored and neglected by the cantonment authorities as far as the civic amenities and facilities are concerned.
Now the recent step taken by the Faisal Cantonment authorities has proved to be the height of bias against their civilian residents as the annual house and conservancy taxes have been increased by 400 per cent which means that owners of 240 square yards houses, who used to pay Rs2,650 annually, have received bills as high as Rs10,500.
If this is a policy of all the cantonments, then 40 per cent of the population of this city is being punished for the reasons best known to cantonments boards only.
