PESHAWAR, Sept 4: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Technical Education, Peshawar, announced on Tuesday results of the annual examination of DAE (diploma of associate engineer).
The results were announced at a ceremony held here at a local hotel with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Technical Education, Nawabzada Mehmood Zeb Khan as the chief guest.
According to the results, a total of 75,414 candidates appeared in the examination, out of which 36,202 remained successful showing a pass percentage of 48 per cent. The number of candidates remained 13,000 higher than last year.
The overall top three positions of the examination were clinched by the students of Gandhara College of Technology, Chakdara.
The overall first position was obtained by Sardar Hussein of Gandhara College of Technology, Chakdara, by securing 3080 marks out of 3550 marks, followed by Jawad Ahmad of the same college with 3074 marks while the overall third position was also clinched by Waqar Hussein of the same college by securing 3062 marks. All the three were the students of electrical technology.
Similarly, in technology wise distinctions, Kifayatullah of Thana Institute of Technology stood first in civil technology by securing 2859 marks out of 3350 marks, Fasih Javed of Prince Salman Institute of Technology, Islamabad, stood first in electronics technology by securing 2833 marks.
Irfan Khan of Govt College of Technology, Nowshera, stood first in mechanical technology by securing 2812 marks while Abdul Wahab Qureshi of RED-C Institute of Technology, Islamabad, topped petroleum technology by securing 2940. Similarly, Twayib Khalil of Peshawar Institute of Technology, Mardan Campus, stood first in telecommunication technology by securing 2734 marks.
Speaking on the occasion, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Technical Education, Nawabzada Mehmood Zeb Khan said that the provincial government was making all-out efforts for the promotion of technical education in the province. He said that the top 30 position holders of the DAE examinations would be awarded laptop computers.
He said that the solution to the problem of unemployment lied in technical education.
He said that the provincial government was paying full attention to the promotion of technical education and said that 56 schemes of the last financial year were in progress with several new schemes in the pipeline. —APP
