ISLAMABAD, Aug 27: Parliamentary leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in the Senate, Senator Col (retired) Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi on Monday moved an adjournment motion in the upper house to discuss the massacre of 26 Shia Muslims in Babusar hilltop, in Mansehra district.

The adjournment motion is in line with what MQM chief Altaf Hussain said on August 25: “The killing of people belonging to the Jafria school of thought in Gilgit-Baltistan and Balochistan, after verifying their identity is highly condemnable and a heinous conspiracy against national solidarity. He said that people belonging to the Hazara community in Balochistan were being killed after being pulled off from buses because they belonged to a particular school of thought.”

In his adjournment motion, Senator Mashhadi said the incident of recent brutal, barbaric and inhuman massacre of 26 Shia Muslims has caused great concern and horror among the people of Pakistan and may be debated in the Senate in detail.

The motion is likely to be taken up at the next session of the Senate, which according to parliamentary sources is likely to start from September 3.

The sources said the next Senate session would be a normal session, during which pending business apart from fresh questions, privilege and adjournment motions would be taken up.
