KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement and the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party have entered into a new deadlock on talks of a new Local Government law, with the MQM refusing talks with the party's local leadership.

It has been stated that MQM's senior leadership had made a call to President Asif Ali Zardari where he stated the party's reservations to the proposed local body laws and refused to hold discussions with the party's local leadership.

Party representatives also stated that the MQM would now resolve their issues on the matter in the next meeting to be held between the party's senior leaders and President Asif Ali Zardari.

They further said that the Sindh Governor Ishrat-ul-Ebad and Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah had been informed of this decision.
