ISLAMABAD: Senior Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader Aitzaz Ahsan on Monday said that if the government did not write the letter to Swiss authorities to reopen cases against President Asif Ali Zardari, the court would reach a decision similar to the one that came against former premier Yousuf Raza Gilani, DawnNews reported.

Speaking to media representatives at the parliament, Ahsan said that if Prime Minister Ashraf was disqualified, a new prime minister would be elected and the process would continue until the completion of the government's term.

Ahsan moreover said that he appreciated the court's granting of 22 days to Prime Minister Ashraf.

He said the court had not shown such magnanimity in the past, adding that, he respected that the bench had realised that the ruling against Gilani came in haste.

Ahsan moreover said that the court had not left open the possibility of reaching a middle ground.

He reiterated that "never in history had a court made its head of state accountable before a court of another country".

It is amazing to hear so much fuss about the letter. The Apex Court has the legal obligation to see this letter written for the need of justice.

Ahsan is saying "...... the process will continue." What kind of game the government is playing? Zardari and his cohorts should be ashamed of this game. The right thing to do is to comply with the orders of the court, and write that letter to Swiss Authorities. Evidently, the SC cannot take back the decision already issued. Moreover, the decision was right to begin with.

If Zardari is innocent then why any objections around re-opening the case? Millions of Pakistanis are suffering from poverty, lack of justic, social inequality, basic means of life because of our corrupt so called leaders. This is prime time to move against them all!

Agreed.He has taken his share,now justifying that how wise he is.we need daring people who can take principle stand and do not bow down like cowards.we living in USA r very closely monitoring the proceedings and the propaganda against the Judiciary.Truth has to come out my dear,no matter what comes.That's the first step to strengthen the rule of law.I warn the lawyer like Ahsan to refrain from passing baseless remarks if he has a little soft corner for this poor Nation.
