ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned a meeting of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) core committee for Friday evening, DawnNews reported.

The meeting will be attended by Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and other high-level leaders of the party.

Besides deliberating on a strategy to be adopted on an upcoming Supreme Court hearing on Aug 27, the high-level meeting will also decide whether the prime minister should appear before the court or not, sources added.

The meeting will also focus on other important issues including the current political scenario and the power crisis plaguing the country.

A five-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa will hear the NRO implementation case on Monday and the Prime Minister has already been issued notice by the bench to appear before the court in person.
