HYDERABAD, Aug 19: Four people were killed and 23 others, including women and children, injured in a road accident on Tando Allahyar bypass on Sunday.

The deceased and the injured were travelling in an overcrowded van going to Mirpurkhas from here. The driver lost control of the van due to speeding and the van overturned.

Three of the deceased were identified as Sarfaraz Sehto, Sanwal Brohi and Shafi Shah. The identity of the fourth deceased could not be ascertained. The injured included Naima, Noor Bano, Muskan, Khairan, Dilshad Ali, Kashif, Babar, Mukesh, Raza Iqbal, Iqbal, Sughra, Gulbano, Abdul Sattar, Parkash, Qamaruddin, Shafiq Khanzada, Ikramuddin Kashmiri, Irshad Qaimkhani, Akram Chohan, Yaseen Khokhar, Mali Khokhar, Ayub and Razzaq.

The injured were taken to Civil hospital Tando Allahyar from where five of them — Muhib, Mukesh, Yasin, Rao Babar and Sunil — were moved to Civil Hospital Hyderabad because of their critical condition.

The three bodies were handed over to relatives and the fourth remained unclaimed in the mortuary of the Tando Allahyar hospital.

No case was registered till late Sunday evening.
