SUKKUR, August 17: Four villages and paddy crop on 100 acres of land came under water when a 70-foot breach occurred in the bank of Noor Wah (canal) near Imam Bhangwar village in Jacobabad district on Friday.
The villagers plugged the breach on self-help basis as the irrigation department staff made no effort to do so despite being informed.
Naveed Bhangwar, Tufail Ahmed and other villagers said that the banks of the canals were in a dilapidated condition and should have been strengthened to prevent a breach.
