ISLAMABAD: Minister of Water and Power Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar on Wednesday said that Pakistan Peoples Party government is taking steps to generate energy from coal and that all available resources in the country would be utilised.

He said that there is a plan to transfer the energy dependency from furnace to coal which is a cheap source of energy.

Talking to a private television channel, he said that loadshedding is being carried out in all the provinces on equal basis but some political parties are using energy crisis to create provincial hatred.

Mukhtar said that government is taking measures to produce 4200 megawatt (MW) energy from coal, which is less expensive than furnace.

Replying to a question, he said that government is trying to control the electricity pilferers. He said that the government is focusing on coal and LNG products to reduce energy shortage.

Mukhtar also stressed the need for eradicating corruption from the energy sector so that the problem of loadshedding could be resolved.
