ISLAMABAD, July 28: Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, the leader of the opposition PPP-S, while welcoming on Monday an initiative taken by the MQM to bring all political parties on a platform to discuss a national agenda, including the next general election, also expressed apprehensions about the chances of its success.

During its meeting with Mr Sherpao, a delegation of the MQM assured him that a national agenda would be prepared for the proposed roundtable conference. Talking to Dawn, MQM’s deputy parliamentary leader in National Assembly Haider Abbas Rizvi said the initiative had full backing of the president and the prime minister.

“If this initiative is aimed at solving the problems faced by the people and arranging early general elections then it is welcome but still we feel people’s trust in such events has dropped,” Mr Sherpao said.
