OKARA, July 28: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said he will set up protest camps in every city of the province to save the people of Punjab from the affects of inequitable and cruel power loadshedding.

The chief minister stated this while talking to PML-N workers at his tent office outside the newly-constructed Gymnasium and Sports Club in the District Complex here on Saturday.

The chief minister said the federal government had given him a message before the commencement of Ramazan that he should end his tent office as uniform power loadshedding would be implemented throughout the country.

He said he was fully convinced that the federal government would never honour its commitment and his assessment proved to be right.

Mr Shahbaz said it seemed that the conscience of the federal rulers had died and they had no realization of the fact that the 16 hours long outages in cities of Punjab had rendered thousands of people jobless.

He said that small scale business had been destroyed and lasting damage was being caused to the agriculture.

The chief minister said they had decided to fight against the cruel rulers of Islamabad by sitting openly in hot weather without electricity instead of sitting in air-conditioned rooms.

He said the rate of electricity theft in Punjab was minimum while the rate of its payment was maximum, but despite that, worst form of loadsehdding was being done in the province.

Mr Shahbaz said that loadshedding could be ended by generating 4,000MW electricity through coal and 2,000MW through sugarcane.

He said that power projects planned to be established in Nandipur and Chichoki Maliyan could not be materialized due to criminal negligence of the federal government.

Later, addressing administrative officers, the chief minister said that officers showing laxity and dereliction of duty had no place in the province.

The chief minister also visited the house of a 12-year-old girl who was murdered after abduction in Okara.

He expressed his condolences with her family members and gave a cheque for Rs0.5 million as compensation to the victim family.

He directed the Punjab IG to provide immediate justice to the affected family and ensure exemplary punishment to culprits involved in the heinous act.

The chief minister also issued orders to arrest within a week the murderers of a BA student of Sabri Colony.

On the demand of PML-N leader Manzoor Sipra, the chief minister issued orders for the installation of a water filtration plant at the Union Council No 95.

He also announced treatment facility for elderly Leaguer Allah Yar Qureshi and the employment for his two sons.

Earlier, the chief minister inaugurated the Gymnasium at the Sports Complex.
