People frustrated
ATTOCK, July 28: Loadshedding continued during Iftar, Sehri and Tarweeh hours, causing people to vent their anger on the government.
People frustrated by loadshedding, ridiculed the government harshly, over the miserable state of affairs, telling local newsmen that it is the month of saying prayers, serving humanity and extending maximum benefits to the masses in the holy month, but our unwise rulers are against such practices, as they are indifferent towards the people.
They said that the intense heat and dry conditions make this year's fast even more challenging due to severe loadshedding of about 20 hours.
Just imagine that power breakdown occurred on Friday, 9:00pm and power was restored after four hours, on Saturday.
As a result, people could not offer Tarweeh prayers properly.
Similarly loadshedding continued throughout the day on Saturday. As power went off, about 2:00pm and was restored after five hours, at 7:00 pm, only few minutes before Iftari.
People, especially womenfolk at home have faced great inconvenience, preparing Iftari for their families. The long hours of unannounced loadshedding also created a severe water shortage, as water supply stations were not working properly. — Correspondent
Profiteers fined
MURREE, July 28: On the directions of Punjab government, Tehsildar Murree Rana Nayab visited various bazaars of the hilly resort and fined the shopkeepers for overcharging.
He visited Ghora Gali, Tret, Bansra Gali, Company Bagh, Charra Pani and other bazaars and fined those who had either not displayed rate lists or were charging more than the prescribed rates.
Talking to mediapersons, he said: “In the holy month of Ramazan overcharging is synonymous to seeking God’s ire and those who are doing such deeds must be treated with iron hands.” Residents of the town, however, expressed dissatisfaction over the surprise visits and termed these actions as cosmetic ones meant only to fill the government files.
Despite having special importance with regard to tourism, Murree has been without a full time price control magistrate and the assistant commissioner here has been given this portfolio as an additional assignment.
Locals have demanded that a full time price control magistrate should be appointed in the town and a proper mechanism be adopted to check the prices of various commodities. — Correspondent
