ISLAMABAD, July 24: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has objected to the prolonged electricity outages during the last two days in several parts of the country and announced that the power distribution plan would be changed to rectify the situation.

Presiding over a meeting of the Energy Committee at the PM House here on Tuesday, he said the duration of outages had increased even though up to 14,000 MW was now being generated in the country.

“People are facing the same level of loadshedding as they were when the gap between supply and demand was very wide,” Mr Ashraf noted.

He announced that the electricity distribution plan would be changed and more power would be allocated to domestic consumers.

Minister for Water and Power Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar, Minister for Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr Asim Hussain and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira attended the meeting.
