LAHORE, July 23: Lawyers across Punjab observed a black day on Monday against newly-introduced Contempt of Court Act 2012.

Lawyers observed a complete strike at all subordinate courts and a partial strike at the Lahore High Court.

Black flags were hoisted on bar premises and the lawyers demanded of the government to withdraw the changes made to the contempt of court law. They said a countrywide protest would be launched if the government failed to do so.

The lawyers maintained that nobody would be allowed to undermine the judiciary.

They said the new Act was introduced just to save the skin of Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.
