NOWSHERA, July 23: Three brothers were shot dead while four others wounded when an armed clash broke out between two groups over a small piece of land at Akora Khattak on Monday.  

The groups led by Hejab-ur-Rehman and  Sher Mohammad had called a jirga to resolve the dispute over one kanal of land but the gathering turned ugly when both the groups started exchanging harsh words, said sources.

Police said the group led by Sher Mohammad attacked the people of Hajab-ur-Rehman, killing Riaz ur Rehman and Ghani ur Rehman, sons of Hajab ur Rehman on the spot. Malik Aman, Shah Jehan, Mohammad Rehman and Hejab ur Rehman sustained serious injuries. They were taken to Leady Reading Hospital Peshawar, but Malik Aman, another son of Hejab ur Rehman, succumbed to injuries while on way to hospital.

The bodies were buried in their ancestral graveyards at Usman Abad, Akora Khattak.

The accused escaped from the village. However, Akora Khattak police registered case against Sher Mohammad, Sher Zameen, Raj Mohammad, Fazle Subhan and Gul Khan.

Meanwhile, unknown dacoits on Monday looted house of a prominent businessman at Suria Khel area disguising themselves as the officials of police and CID.

Police said six unknown robbers while showing themselves as the staff of police and CID entered the house of Aftab Ali Khan and decamped with valuables after holding the inmates at gunpoint.

Aftab Ali Khan while registering case in Akora Khattak police station said the dacoits stole 35 tola gold, Rs300,000 cash and mobiles phones. He pointed out that the robbers showed themselves as employees of police and CID and entered his house on the pretext of looking for a girl hiding there.
