TOBA TEK SINGH, July 21: A youngster shot dead his father for insisting on contracting second marriage and injured his wife who tried to save her father-in-law here on Saturday at Chak 284-JB.

According to Sadar police, Abdul Ghaffar wanted to contract second marriage but his son Muhammad Nawaz was against it.

On Saturday, the father and the son exchanged harsh words over the issue following which Nawaz who had a gun opened fire, killing Ghaffar on the spot.

When Rasheeda Bibi, wife of Nawaz, came to rescue her father-in-law the accused also fired on her, leaving her critically injured. She was rushed to the local DHQ hospital where her condition was said to be serious.

Police were conducting raids to arrest the accused.
