LAHORE, July 20: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif complains that the profit of electricity distribution companies in Punjab is being used to plug the deficit of power companies of other provinces. Talking to delegations of people from various Lahore localities like Gari Shahu, Dharampura and Mian Mir as well as PML-N workers at his tent office here on Friday, he said 650 megawatts of electricity being produced in Punjab was being parceled outside the province, which was sheer injustice to the people of Punjab.

He said grave injustice was being done to Punjab with regard to loadshedding and “no one knows why the federal rulers are taking revenge from the people of Punjab.”

He said the ‘Zardari gang’ gave the nation ‘gifts’ of poverty, price-hike, unemployment and energy crisis during its four and a half years’ rule.

He said due to closure of industries people lost their livelihoods and the poor were struggling for their survival but, unfortunately, the rulers of Islamabad had no interest in solving the problems of the masses.

He said the PML-N tried its level best to awaken the conscience of the federal rulers but it seemed “their inner self has died because of greed and corruption.”

On a complaint by the citizens, the chief minister directed the LDA director general to visit the Garhi Shahu Railway Bridge and review measures for its improvement. He also directed immediate initiation of development work on rehabilitation and betterment of Children’s Park at Mian Mir Baradari.

Taking notice of the nonfunctional dispensary of the area, he ordered suspension of the EDO health, and said the officers “who do not display interest in public-welfare projects have no right to remain on their positions.”

He also directed speedy completion of development work on Allama Iqbal Road besides retrieval of the land of graveyard from the land grabbers.

He pledged that the workers of PML-N, who stood with the party in hard times, would be fully rewarded, along with those who faced torture for the cause of democracy.

The chief minister announced establishment of a committee to solve the problems of the party workers.
