LANDI KOTAL, July 19: MNA Hamidullah Jan Afridi has demanded of the authorities to temporarily suspend military operation in Bara during the holy month of Ramazan.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, he demanded of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor, corps commander Peshawar and inspector general of Frontier Corps to temporarily suspend the ongoing military operation in different parts of Bara and lift curfew during Ramazan.
Mr Afridi said that Bara people would observe Ramazan in peace if his demand for ceasefire was accepted. He said that the residents of Bara had already suffered a lot owing to militancy and military operations. “They are unable to bear more miseries during the month of fasting,” he added.
The MNA, who is a former federal minister, also demanded lifting of curfew or easing its timings in Bara during Ramazan.
Supporting the demand of MNA, Al-Khidmat Welfare Organisation of Bara has also appealed to security forces to reopen all roads and local markets for the convenience of people during Ramazan.
Turab Ali, an office-bearer of the organisation, said that reopening of roads and markets would enable the residents of Shalobar, Sipah, Malikdinkhel and Akkakhel to buy necessary daily use items from local bazaars instead of going to Peshawar for the purpose. Mr Ali also demanded relaxation in curfew, especially during Iftar, Taraweeh and Sehr times.
