MANSEHRA, July 8: The students of various schools on Sunday took out a polio awareness rally in Oghi.

The rally culminated at Charbagh rural health centre after students, who were holing banners and placards inscribed with slogans, marched through various roads.

Speaking on the occasion polio immunisation coordinator Dr Adnan Mughal said preparations for three-day polio vaccination drive, starting from July 16, had been finalised. He said if all segments of society like students played their proactive role time was not far when Pakistan would be the polio free country.

Dr Mughal also informed students about the lethal disease and said it was high time people came forward for complete eradiation of the disease. “We are leading the polio plagued countries in the world and have to play a proactive role to get rid of this disease,” said Mr Mughal.

Dr Jahandad also educated the students about current status of the polio in the world through charts and posters and about positive cases so far reported in the year 2012.

The students said they would also go door to door to urge the mothers to administer oral polio vaccine to their children of five and below five years of age.
