Truckers rejoice as Nato supply routes reopen

Pakistan confirmed that it had decided to reopen vital NATO supply routes into Afghanistan which have been closed since November, a government spokesman said. The official announcement came after US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that Pakistan was re-opening the roads and that theUnited States was “sorry” for losses suffered by the Pakistani military in November. The supply routes have been shut since November when an American aircraft mistakenly killed 24Pakistan soldiers, aggravating already difficult relations between Washington and Islamabad.

Sigh of relief also for the sane, thinking people in Pakistan. Pakistan simply cannot afford a confrontation with the sole superpower unless it's bent on self destruction. Message has been sent and it's time to move on and rebuild this relationship. If US wants Pakistan destroyed all it has to do is impose a crippling naval blockade.

Well the decision taken by Pakistani Govt is right, because it has no alternate way to dissolve the tension. Political parties are opportunist they are playing the game of the getting support for the incoming election. There is a famous saying " get what you can from a bad paymaster"... Pakistan economy is the door of destruction.

Who do you think NATO would need for the supply after Afghanistan ? Apology ? they blamed Pakistan and called it an ambiguity..........Great Pakistani Government. We have been sold out Pakistanis.

Re-opening of the supply line is just one step to co-operate with international community to fight terrorism. Pakistan's greatest threat is the Talibans, the Alqaieda, the Haqqanis, the Jihadis, the militants and their helpers, supporters and sympathezers who wish to change Pakistan into a pre-Islamic lawless tribal land isolated from the rest of the world. There will be no peace in Pakistan until the last enemy of Pakistan is alive. They want to kill the drivers of NATO vehicles. Pakistan with world’s one of strongest armies and nukes is helpless like a child in front of its militant enemies...........Shame.

No matter how much you thump your chests and talk about 'honor', etc. Pakistan is dependent on Aid and the US holds the purse strings. Reopening the NATO supply lines had to happen. Lets look at the ground realities NATO supplies are transported on Pakistani vehicles, travel on Pakistani roads, look at the amount of employment and revenue they are generating can Pakistan offer alternate employments when the country's economy is in a tailspin?
