LAHORE, July 1: Senior PML-Q parliamentarian Riaz Fatyana has said there was a conspiracy behind a mob attack on his residence (Kamalia) and demanded compensation.

“I had informed the administration about the possible attack on my house on the pretext of loadshedding protest but the Punjab government did not provide me with security. Instead, an FIR was registered against me in connection with the killing of a boy during the protest,” Mr Fatyana said at a news conference at the press club here on Sunday. He said during the attack on his house his seven cars and 17 motorcycles of his staff were burnt.

“The regional police officer and the brother of a former influential judge were behind the conspiracy. The RPO should be removed forthwith and an honest officer be posted there,” he said and also alleged that the judge’s brother had illegally occupied a piece of land worth millions of rupees in Toba Tek Singh.

The PML-Q leader has urged the Punjab government and the judiciary to compensate him besides holding an independent inquiry into the matter. He also asked the provincial government to provide him with security as there was a threat to his life.
