DADU, June 30: Commissioner of Hyderabad Division, Ahmed Bux Narejo, has directed the irrigation officials to repair, strengthen and raise Suprio bund, Khuda wah and Main Nara Valley (MNV) drain damaged in floods and rains of 2010 and 2011, respectively.He said this while visiting Suprio bund from Mehar to Khairpur Nathan Shah on Saturday which was washed away in floods. Stone pitching work was being carried out there.

Mr Narejo was accompanied by Chief Engineer Right Bank Sukkur Barrage Javed Memon, Deputy Commissioner Abbas Nasir Soomro and Irrigation Executive Engineer Habibullah Kaboro.

Visiting damaged parts and breached sites of Khuda wah near Khairpur Nathan Shah, he directed immediate completion of pitching work of Suprio bund by dumping stones. He warned early completion of damaged work as the city was inundated because of it in flood of 2010.

Visiting the MNV drain near Dadu, Khairpur Nathan Shah and Mehar, he directed strengthening of the damaged banks by filling it with clay. He asked the DC to monitor work and submit a report to authorities.

Mr Narejo also chaired a meeting in Darbar Hall and directed officials to remain alert in monsoon season and keep dewatering machines at hand. He expressed dissatisfaction over the work of town TMAs.

DC Dadu informed that an Emergency Cell had been established in his office to deal with rain emergency. The DDO Dadu would be in-charge of the cell.

He visited Larkana-Sehwan embankment and directed the officials to complete repair work at embankments and further informed that irrigation officials had been asked to store flood fighting material at embankments sites.
