LARKANA, June 25: No arrests have been made as yet in the wake of damage to three electricity transformers installed on the estate of the Bhutto family.

According to Riaz Phulphoto, estate manager of the Bhuttos’ land, theft of cables from pole-mounted transformers (PMT) of 50KV installed in the land of Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and Sanam Bhutto took place three days ago.

Two of the three transformers were installed in the land of Sanam Bhutto and one in the land of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Tubewells run on electricity provided by them irrigate about 200 acres of land, according to Mr Phulphoto.

Police have been carrying out raids in nearby villages to catch suspects and to recover the cables.

A police official, confirming the incident, said “thieves have stolen the coils of the transformers, leaving behind a skeleton”.—BoC
