ISLAMABAD: The Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has recused himself from all pending Bahria Town cases. The hearing of Bahria Town cases will now be heard by a new judicial bench, DawnNews reported.

The three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the case here Friday against the murder of Bahria Town’s guard, when he made an official announcement to recuse himself from all the cases pertaining to Bahria Town.

The court’s order said that former chairman of Bahria Town, Malik Riaz accused the Chief Justice and the Supreme Court on various accounts which is why the court has filed a contempt of court case against him.

Moreover, the Bahria Town’s guard murder case was adjourned till June 25.

Earlier, Advocate Zahid Bukhari said that Malik Riaz had appointed him as his lawyer.

While talking to the media, he said that he is going to defend Malik Riaz and not Bahria Town.

However, he welcomed the decision of the Chief Justice in which he recused himself from all the cases.
