QUETTA, June 19: The Balochistan Assembly unanimously passed on Tuesday the budget amounting to Rs149.49 billion for the next financial year.

Speaker Aslam Bhootani presided over the assembly session.  Finance Minister Mir Asim Kurd presented 42 demands of Rs113.68 billion for non-development expenditures and nine demands of Rs35.81 billion for development expenditures.

The allocation for different sectors included Rs22.05 billion for education, Rs20.08 billion for economic affairs, Rs13.17 billion for general administration, Rs9.85 billion for health, Rs7.50 billion for pensions, Rs6.71 billion for rural development, Rs5.91 billion for civil works, including establishment charges, Rs5.36 billion for general public service, Rs5.34 billion for police, Rs5.21 billion for agriculture, Rs4.07 billion for energy department, Rs3.66 billion for Levies, Rs3.04 billion for calamity, Rs2.95 billion for housing and community amenities, Rs2.35 billion for education affairs and service, Rs2.18 billion for public health services and Rs2.07 billion for protection of environment.

The session was adjourned till Wednesday.
