SWABI, June 16: Former amir of Jamaat-i-Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmad has said that flawed policies of rulers have weakened the country’s institutions.

Speaking to party workers at Karnal Sher kallay here on Saturday, he vowed that the JI and people would stand by the Supreme Court and foil all conspiracies to discredit judiciary.

Mr Ahmad said that the rulers had failed to deliver while toeing the American policy, which was bent upon weakening Pakistan. He said that the latest agreement between the US and India giving the latter a greater role in Afghanistan should serve as an eye-opener for the rulers.

“The objectives of Pakistan's establishment have not been achieved. The regimes who ruled the country one after the other are responsible for pushing the country into the prevailing quagmire,” he said.

He told the workers to tighten their belts for the upcoming local bodies and general elections, saying elections would take place soon because no more lame excuses were acceptable to people.

The JI leadership has already finalised the names of candidates with a plan to contest elections in all local bodies, national and provincial assemblies’ constituencies.

The former JI amir said that if Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal was not restored then there would be an alliance among religious parties for the upcoming elections. However, Mr Ahmad said that the religious parties had not given up their efforts to revive the MMA. He said that people should use their votes with great care and support honest candidates in any elections in the country.
