KARACHI: Following the washout of the third one-day international (ODI) between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Colombo, organisers have added reserve days for the remaining two matches.

Damp weather is forecast in Colombo for the fourth and fifth ODIs, scheduled on Saturday, June 16 and Monday, June 18 and should rain affect play, the matches can be shifted to June 17 and 19 respectively.

It was earlier reported that Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) were going to relocate the matches to Hambantota or Galle.

“SLC have asked us if we are okay with moving the matches away from Colmobo ,” Pakistan cricket team’s manager Naveed Akram Cheema told DawnNews on Thursday.

Hambantota and Galle were being named as the two options but since Galle International Stadium cannot host a day-night matches, both ODIs could be played in Hambantota. Cheema, however, said the team management may not agree to Hambantota, as the busy journey to the town is quite long.

Later in the day, however, Cheema told reporters that both boards had agreed to add reserve days instead of relocating the teams.

Following the ODI series, Pakistan will play three Test matches in Sri lanka. The Test venues will be Galle International Stadium, R. Premadasa Stadium (Colombo) and Sinhalese Sports Club (Colombo).

The concern is that if the government is thinking of cutting costs through the merger, we might even lose the functionality levels we currently have.
