ZAGREB: A Croatian civil servant who bared her breasts to celebrate her team's win at Euro 2012 could be disciplined at work, her employers warned on Wednesday.

Topless photos of a joyous Jelena Miksa swamped Internet portals, local media and social networks after Croatia's 3-1 victory over Ireland on Sunday.

But the culture ministry, where Miksa works as a clerk, was not amused and said the young woman could be sanctioned for breaking the code of conduct of public employees.

“We have to react as a public sector employee should behave in line with the code,” ministry spokeswoman Natasa Petrinjak told AFP.

She said an ethical committee would discuss the issue later Wednesday or on Thursday to decide on what action to take.

Jelena and her cousin Viktorija from the northern town of Krapina travelled to Poland to support Croatia in their Sunday's opener against Ireland.

After the victory, the women celebrated by pulling their T-shirts high up over their breasts.

“I don't regret anything ... For me the only important thing is how my squad played. Let's go on to win,” Jelena Miksa told the Vecernji List daily.

The local branch of the Helsinki Committee for human rights condemned the launching of a disciplinary procedure against Miksa as an “attack on her privacy.”

Croatia, quarter-finalists in 2008, are currently leading in their Group C with three points.

They play Italy next on Thursday, also in Poznan, Poland, before taking on defending champions Spain on June 18 in Gdansk.

Merging for what?

The concern is that if the government is thinking of cutting costs through the merger, we might even lose the functionality levels we currently have.
