IGP: Earlier, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Habibur Rehman addressed a regional police officers (RPOs) conference at the CPO office.

The meeting decided to restore the old designations of police posts, including that of the IG, additional IGs, DIGs, SSPs, SPs and DSPs rather than using the nomenclatures of CPOs, DPOs and SDPOs.It was decided that the recruitment would be merit-based and DIG Zulifqar Cheema would prepare examination question-papers for recruitment in police.

The meeting decided that only the traffic police would be authorised to issue challan tickets for violation of traffic rules and not the PHP police.

The meeting also decided that the chief minister would be requested to enhance the budget allocation for the Punjab police for the fiscal year 2012-13 because the amount allocated in the proposed budget was not sufficient to meet the financial problems being faced by the police.
