PRIME Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said there is no restriction on dual citizenship in the Constitution and he is in favour of dual nationality holders becoming members of parliament.

The oath taken by parliamentarians on joining the National Assembly states: “I will bear true faith and allegiance to Pakistan.”

The oath taken by UK legislators reads: “I, (name), do swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, her heirs and successors, according to law. So help me God.”

And the same goes for the US Constitution: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”

Just wondering where an individual stands on the pedestal of morality and commitment after having taken multiple oaths of allegiance.
