ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that Parliament represents the aspirations of people and it is the responsibility of all parliamentarians to respect its sanctity.

He said that unruly behavior of the main opposition party during the budget session was deplorable as it negated the established democratic practices. The prime minister expressed these views while talking to MNA's who called on him separately at PM House on Wednesday.

He said that despite provocations, the government would continue to uphold democratic principles and demonstrate civilized behavior in the upcoming budget session of the Punjab Assembly.

The prime minister said that democratic system was taking root in the country and any ill considered move could damage the process. He said that there was a way to voice protest within parliamentary means but resorting to rowdyism was uncalled for as it amounts to undermining the representation of the masses.
