ISLAMABAD: The proceeding of the National Assembly was suspended Wednesday owing to lack of quorum.

The issue of lack of quorum was pointed out by Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz member Saud Majeed as the majority of his party members were not present in the House.

Acting Speaker Faisal Karim Kundi directed the staffers concerned to count the heads.

However, in violation of the rules, Saud Majeed asked two of his party members to leave the House to further decrease the number but it was not noticed by the chair.

On counting, it was revealed that only 59 members were present in the House against 86 as required by the rules to maintain the quorum.

Later, the proceeding of the House was suspended until the quorum would complete.
