KARAK, May 26: People of Gurguri village here on Friday staged a sit-in outside the local police station to protest against open sale of narcotics and increasing crime incidents in the area.

The protesters led by Gurguri Islahi Tanzeem president Ghulam Ameen marched to the village police station after Friday prayer and staged a sit-in against open sale of narcotics and increasing crime incidents.

They demanded of the police to launch immediate action against gamblers, drug peddlers and criminals in the area. They assured their support to the police in maintenance of law and order and curbing crimes.

FATA PEACE: Pashtun Qaumi Tehrik provincial president Ameen Pashtun has said that military operations in the tribal belt should be stopped and negotiations started to pave the way for restoration of peace.

Talking to media persons here on Friday, he said that military operation was not a solution to any issue. He alleged that Awami National party had practically been turned into a dollar-earning machine while compromising the rights of Pakhtuns.

OFFICE-BEARERS: Altaf Ahmad was elected district president and Tariq Usman general secretary of Pakistan Mazdoor Kissan Party during election for office-bearers of the district chapter here on Friday.

PMKP provincial president Qadir Sherin supervised the election. Other office-holders include deputy general secretary Sajid Shahadat and district salar Iftikhar Ahmad.
