NAROWAL: Punjab Governer Sardar Latif Khosa on Saturday said that he could use his constitutional powers to remove the Punjab government if Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani allowed him to do so.

Addressing a public gathering after the inaugural ceremony of gas supply project performed by the prime minister, he said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was working on a ‘stay order’ given by the courts.

Paying tributes to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, he said Bhutto always respected the judiciary and was the one who introduced first unanimous constitution, adding that PM Gilani was now following Bhutto’s foot steps.

He requested the prime minister to follow the party manifesto and introduce such a system which could protect democracy.

The governor said the Punjab government would be held accountable for corruption in development work of worth Rs 300 billion which had been spent on roads of Lahore city ignoring other cities of the province.

He demanded the courts to issue verdict in Mehran Bank scandal on urgent basis so that real faces of Sharif brothers could be exposed.

He said it was right of the people to elect or remove any member of the parliament.
