
KARACHI: The Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) has decided to send two promising players to attend a month-long coaching clinic in Bangkok under the aegis of World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) Academy starting from July 9.
Umair Alam from Sindh and former national junior champion Asjad Iqbal from Punjab will travel to the Thai capital to learn the finer points of the game from top professional players of the world.
Meanwhile, international referee Shabbir Hussain Daruwala will also fly to Bangkok next month to attend a two-day course for coaches under WPBSA Academy on June 19 and 20.
Shabbir, also a former player, was picked as he will be able to grasp the tips quickly from course conductor and a former world champion Steve Davis, an official of the PBSA said on Friday.
According to him, Pakistan was lucky to get one slot in the four courses for coaches which are being held separately.
Meanwhile, top two junior cueists Hunain Amir and Mohammad Majid Ali will represent the country in the IBSF world under-21 snooker championship which takes place in Wuxi, Jiangsu, China, from July 14 to 22.
Earlier, the two had represented in the Asian under-21 snooker meet held in the Indian city of Goa in April.
