KOHAT, May 16: Two people were killed and the ANP chief of Kohat district and three others injured in crossfire when two groups clashed during a jirga in Sheikhan area on Wednesday.

Mateen Shah, the leader of one of the groups, and a passerby, Fida Mohammad, were killed.

District ANP chief Syed Saeed Shah Bokhari, husband of MNA Khurshid Begum, was taken to Peshawar with three bullet wounds.

He had gone to Sheikhan to resolve a dispute over a road in Muhallah Kareem Khel between the groups led by Mateen Shah and Wilayat Shah.

Members of both groups fired at each other with automatic weapons.

The incident took place in an area infested with proclaimed offenders and drugs and arms smugglers.
