MINGORA, May 13: Chief of his own faction of Pakistan People’s Party Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has said that the government’s failure to resolve economic and law and order problems in the country and its disregard for the supremacy of law have been keeping the foreign and local entrepreneurs away from investing in Pakistan.

“The government’s behaviour will further aggravate the already weak economic and political situation of the country,” he said while speaking at a public meeting at Matta, Swat, on Sunday.

According to a press release, Mr Sherpao said that the government had been increasing prices of oil and electricity on regular basis and it seemed the government had no source of income other than further burdening the masses.

He said that no improvement had been brought in the national economy despite huge loans acquired from international financial institutions. The rulers, he said, should admit failure and step down so that fresh elections could be held in the country.

The PPP-S chief said that the government and the international community had been ignoring Paktuns rights, who were paying a heavy price for restoration of peace in the region. He asked all the stakeholders to work together for bringing lasting peace to the region.

He lashed out at the ANP-led provincial government for ignoring people of Malakand and alleged that they pocketed funds provided by international donors for rehabilitation and reconstruction of militancy and flood-hit people of Malakand division.

He said that masses voted the so-called champions of Pakhtuns rights to power, but they failed to come up to their expectations.“The so-called champions of Pakhtuns’ rights worked on single-point agenda of corruption during its four years rule,” he said while referring to the leaders of Awami National Party. He said that development funds ended up in the pockets of few individuals and the people remained deprived.

The PPP-S leader said that the government had failed to overcome the targeted killing in Karachi and bodies of innocent people were being received in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other parts of the country.
