ISLAMABAD: Zeeshan Abbasi is set to lead the Pakistan Blind cricket team over the next two years, a statement released by the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) said on Saturday.

PBCC Chairman Syed Sultan Shah said that Abbasi (Partially Blind-B2) will lead the team, while Imran Sheikh will be his deputy (vice-captain).

“Zeeshan's first and foremost task will be this year's World Cup to be played in December at Bangalore” the chairman said.

Abbasi replaces Abdul Razzaq, who retired earlier this year after sustaining an injury in the series against India.

Shah said it was time for a change in the leadership of the national team.

“We want to bring in young talented players so that the team becomes formidable in future.”

For Abbasi, being named captain of the national team was a dream come true.

“I have been taking guidance from our former captain Razzaq.”

Abbasi was the fastest bowler of 2006 World Cup and he represents Islamabad in the domestic tournaments.
