ISLAMABAD: The judicial commission probing the memo case directed the secretary of commission to travel to London for forensic examination of Black Berry handset of Mansoor Ijaz allegedly used in the preparation of the memo.
The commission also rejected the application filed by Hussain Haqqani through his counsel Zahid Hussain Bokhari, seeking exhibit of the evidences and documents produced by Haqqani in the rebuttal to the evidences produced by Mansoor Ijaz.
The commission, headed by Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and comprising Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Iqbal Hameed-ur-Rehman and Sindh High Court Chief Justice Musheer Alam conducted its proceedings at the IHC.
Commission head Chief Justice Faez Issa, directed secretary Raja Jawwad Abbas Hassan to seek extension in the fixed time duration of commission from the Supreme Court as commission doesn't have any idea about the time limit required for forensic test of handsets.
The time duration of compiling the report is going to be end on May 15.
Justice Isa also observed that all parties who want to be present during the forensic test of handset may be present.
The experts will carry out the exercise instructed to him without any interference from any party appearing in the memo case, commission ordered.
The report of the forensic examination should be in simple terminology which could be understandable to lay man and should be signed by the expert along with his affidavit, Justice Isa directed.
However, Sajid Tanooli, counsel for Hussain Haqqani, objected that forensic test of Ijaz's Handset at this stage should not be conducted because right of producing evidence has been over.
During the proceedings, Justice Isa also observed that neither the record of Hussain Haqqani’s phone bills is directly provided from the company nor the commission has been given the documentary record.
The commission only received copy of the bills directly from Haqqani, he added. Further hearing was adjourned till date in office.
