ISLAMABAD: Key Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) ministers from Sindh met with President Asif Ali Zardari at the President House on Friday. The meeting discussed the police operation in Lyari and the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz’s stance against Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, DawnNews reported.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Local Government Minister Agha Siraj Durrani and Sindh’s revenue minister Jam Mehtab Dahar were participating the meeting.

Addressing the ministers during the meeting, President Zardari said: “It is the top most priority of the state to provide safety and security to its citizens.”

“Lyari is the stronghold of PPP and terrorists would be held accountable, regardless of their political affiliations,” he added.

Syed Qaim Ali Shah briefed the meeting on the operation in Lyari.

Moreover, it was decided in the meeting that the PPP would be ready to counter a possible anti-government movement from the PML-N and would hold rallies in Punjab and Sindh against the PML-N’s government in Punjab.
