KARACHI, April 16: A comprehensive study for the revival of the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project will be completed by November with the completion of topographic and geological surveys, Sindh chief secretary Raja Abbas was told on Monday.

A Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) study team led by Ken Kato gave a presentation to the Sindh chief secretary about the KCR revival.

The JICA is providing the entire funding of $1.58 billion for the project through a soft loan payable in 40 years.

Sources said that after the presentation, the JICA team left for Islamabad with Ejaz Hussain Khilji, a senior official associated with the KCR project, for compliance of formalities from the federal government.
