ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Wednesday said the ongoing Parliamentary review process would bring transparency and credibility to the rules of engagement with the US, Nato and the ISAF.

Talking to the US Deputy Secretary of State Thomas Nides here at the Prime Minister House, Gilani said relations with US must be based on mutual respect and mutual interest.

The Prime Minister reiterated that the US, the Nato and the ISAF must respect sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan.

Pakistan would like to build bilateral relations with the United States,  Gilani added.

“We can achieve our objective, peace and stability in region, and Afghan reconciliation through greater cooperation and on the basis of mutual trust,” the Prime Minister maintained.

Deputy Secretary of State Thomas Nides said the US fully respects Pakistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He emphasized on the importance that US government attaches to its relationship with Pakistan.

He said his country recognized Pakistan's role as an important country within the region and was looking forward to re-engage with Pakistan after conclusion of the ongoing Parliamentary review process.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar, Minister for Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Senator Sughra Imam, Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jillani, Pakistan's Ambassador to US Ms.Sherry Rehman, and other high officials attended the meeting.
