ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned a high-level meeting of top government officials on the law and order situation in Karachi, DawnNews reported.

According to sources, the meeting, scheduled to be held at Bilawal House in Karachi, would be attended by Governor Sindh Ishratul Ibad, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, both the federal and provincial interior ministers and other top government officials.

Sources add that the Federal Minister Interior Rehman Malik would give a detailed briefing to the president and the other attendees on the conditions of law and order in the provincial capital.

Issues related to extortion in Karachi would be discussed in the meeting, while the interior ministers will brief President Zardari over measures taken to curtail the problem, sources added.
