LAHORE, Feb 27: The Lahore High Court on Monday vacated its stay allowing the Sheikh Zayed Medical and Dental College administration to recover 50 per cent of tuition fee from its students.The counsel for the college told the court that in the absence of any federal or provincial government grant, all expenses of the institute were being met through the tuition fee and the court should vacate the stay against recovery of the fee.

Justice Khalid Mahmood Khan directed the college administration to recover only 50 per cent of the fee until a decision on the petition.

Dr Salman Kazmi had through his counsel pleaded that the college, under administrative control of the federal government, was charging students Rs480,000 each as tuition fee for an academic year whereas other public sector medical and dental institutions in the province were charging only Rs12,000 to 14,000. — Staff Reporter
