ISLAMABAD: Central Leader Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), Ahsan Iqbal on Sunday said passage of the 20th amendment of the Constitution is a positive step and will help ensure transparency in the upcoming election.

Ahsan Iqbal said that the 20th amendment will eliminate the threat of disputed elections and further strengthen the democratic process in the country.

“Conducting independent elections through a neutral caretaker government set up is now part of the constitution and it is undoubtedly a huge success”, he said.

Meanwhile Senator S.M Zafar said the 20th amendment will benefit the country, saving it from any political chaos near elections.

“This is an event which indicates how disadvantage can be changed into an advantage. A constitutional crisis might emerge, if this amendment had not been passed”, he added.

"Elections under a neutral caretaker government, will prove credible and acceptable for all and will help flourish democracy," S.M Zafar said.
